Quick commerce was not needed, but a new category has been created. eCommerce was also not needed but it has become a habbit now. Same for quick commerce. Sometimes people don't know what they need and visionary entrepreneurs create it. Quick delivery for medicine doesn't give good ROI. Frequency of a people needing medicine is very low. 4-5 times roughly per year vs daily grocery or other needs.
