Its good that you want to learn about the laws and gain yourself with the knowledge. Some things you're wrong with: 1. Lawyers' USP for their interpretation of laws with the knowledge as the perk. Although, at every step a lawyer will always get back to the bare act (the law book) and do not remember the law on their tips. 2. Constitutional Law will not help you in protection but the IPC, CPC, CrPC, Contracts Act, IT Law will. Its just some articles of the Constitutional law that will be of your help at personal level otherwise its mostly for a public right. Some examples would be Articles 15-21, 19 and 21 being the most important ones. 3. No legal knowledge is of use without any practical knowledge. I have worked with advocates who just have bookish knowledge, they get on the wrong foot of interpretation because they didn't get proper practical knowledge. 4. If you want to get on the right foot of the legal knowledge, start reading court judgements on Bar & Bench and LiveLaw.
