The I-400 class submarinen of Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) were the largest underwater aircraft carrier and remained the largest ever built until the construction of nuclear ballistic missile submarine in the 1960s. The idea came in 1914 Germany when they were finding ut difficult to attack England because of 650 km wide English channel and the Royal Airforce always get alert due to the loud noise coming from the german planes so they decided to attach a plane on a Submarine. The US also employed this technique later but both Germany and US Failed. These Submarine aircraft carrier were able to carry 3 Aichi M6A Seiran aircraft underwater to their destinations. They also carried torpedoes for close-range combat Fast-forwarding to 1945 in just 3 years Japan had successfully created two I-400 Submarine aircraft carrier however after Japan's surrender these Submarines we seized by US who destroyed it immediately (well at least they say so). Thank you
