The "Stay Curious & Open-Minded" checklist for busy designers: 1. Schedule exploration time: Block out 30 minutes each week to explore a new design trend, technology, or research paper. 2. Step outside the bubble: Pick a book on a non-design topic this month and dedicate 10-15 minutes daily to reading it. 3. Have a coffee chat: Connect with someone from a different department or background for an informal conversation. Ask your HR or founder to facilitate such coffee chats. No harm in asking. 4. Embrace the unfamiliar: Every once in a while, visit a museum or event or a movie showcasing a style you wouldn't normally gravitate towards. 5. Question your assumptions: Identify a design principle you rely on and actively research opposing viewpoints. 6. Practice active listening: During your next design meeting, focus solely on understanding the speaker's perspective before responding. Follow this list to cultivate a design practice fuelled by curiosity and open-mindedness. ✌️
