I think that works in certain cases but if your idea is a social media app,then in that case you ain't really solving a problem, you would still make big money if your app is good.

Exactly, meta and instagram solved big Problems, and then tiktok(but many companies after banning of tiktok rise up but none of them made it big, even if its social media the problem has to be big and a differentiator, and how many social media apps made it big? apart from the above three? Facebook solved maintaining connections,iNstagram solved sharing Life updates,linkedin about job updates, tiktok solved Short content problems,if you deep dive everything solved a problem. Yes you can make good money(from fund raising) but i dont think it will be sustainable in the long run. Just a passing cloud.

See first of all social networks are very tough to build and the second issue developers face is scalability. I think these are the two predominant reasons why we do not hear of much social media apps but once people figure out a way to tackle these it's cake.In the current social media landscape I think there is still a lot of scope to make money. Even if you copy and app idea if it resonates with the majority then from thereon money will start flowing in
