Zomato Unveils ‘Weather Union’ To Open Source Real-Time Weather Data

Zomato, in collaboration with Centre for Atmospheric Sciences - IIT Delhi, has launched Weather Union, a network of over 650 on-ground weather stations. Zomato CEO, Deepinder Goyal, announced that this is India's first crowd-sourced weather infrastructure. The weather stations provide real-time information on temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall. Zomato is open-sourcing this data for other companies and institutions to leverage for their needs. The weather stations use machine learning to optimize network operations and ensure continuous functionality in any weather condition. Zomato is also inviting volunteers to host weather stations on their premises.
