Zomato founder-CEO Deepinder Goyal explained why the company launched a "pure veg" fleet. Market research revealed that a majority of respondents, particularly older individuals, preferred veg-only options for spiritual reasons. The decision faced backlash on social media, prompting Zomato to quickly rename the fleet as "veg only" instead of "pure veg". Goyal clarified that the move wasn't motivated by religion or caste, but rather by customers' spiritual beliefs and a desire to avoid causing harm.
