WhatsApp And Its Parent Have Not Informed Of Any India Exit Plan: Ashwini Vaishnaw

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has stated that WhatsApp or Meta has not notified the government regarding any plans they have. WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, previously informed the Delhi High Court that it would shut down its operations in India if forced to break its message encryption. Several prominent tech companies, including Meta, Google, and Microsoft, are being scrutinized by regulators in different cases throughout India. Indian authorities issued a total of 70,612 content removal requests across all Meta platforms from January to June of the previous year.
