Water-tech company Althion has raised Rs 3.6 crore in a pre-Series A funding round from IAN Group-powered BioAngels, along with participation from prominent investors Arun Seth, Om Manchanda, KNK Venkatraman, and Shubham Rastogi. The Hyderabad-based company had previously raised $180K from C-CAMP and others. The fresh funds will be utilized to pilot the manufacture of 40 units of its innovative tabletop laboratory water purification system, support R&D efforts on products and solutions aimed at enhancing kidney dialysis efficiency and sustainability, and establish a larger facility to scale its operations, Althion said in a press release. Founded in 2017 by Surya Rao, Althion develops cutting-edge ultra-pure water systems that serve healthcare, research, and semiconductor industries. The companyโ€™s innovations, supported by BIRAC and aligned with the Make in India initiative, are empowering dialysis centres, biotechnology labs, and premier hospitals across the country. According to Althion, it aims to address the high-cost solutions gap with its cost-effective, high-quality offerings. Its proprietary Althion Remote Monitoring System (ARMS) further enhances its competitive advantage by enabling predictive and preventive maintenance. It asserts that the companyโ€™s products are already trusted by renowned institutions, including Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Homi Bhabha Memorial Cancer Centre, Narayana Hrudayalaya, and Nephroplus centres across India. Althion states that its work has already been supported by grants from BIRAC for the development of its tabletop and kidney dialysis products, as well as seed funding from C-CAMP Bangalore and AIC CCMB Hyderabad. Furthermore, it has been approved for funding towards CE marking and USFDA certifications, which will open markets across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

DrinkPrime, a subscription-based reverse osmosis (RO) water supplying startup, has raised $3 million from SIDBI Venture Capital Ltd. (SVCL), an investment management company and a wholly owned subsidiary of SIDBI. The Bengaluru-based startup had raised Rs 60 crore ($7.5 million) in a mix of equity and debt round led by Omidyar Network India, others in July 2022. Prior to that, it raised around Rs 21 crore in its pre-series A round led by Peak XVโ€™s Surge in August 2021. Founded in 2016 by Vijender Reddy and Manas Ranjan Hota, DrinkPrime works towards enabling access to clean drinking water with Internet-of-Things (IoT)-enabled customised water purifiers on subscription to users. DrinkPrime currently provides clean drinking water access to over 2 lakh families across seven cities in India. With further expansion plans, DrinkPrime is also gearing up for its Series B fundraise. According to startup data intelligence platform, TheKredible, DrinkPrime reported an operating revenue of Rs 28.94 crore with a loss of Rs 27 crore in FY23. In the subscription model, DrinkPrime competes with Livpure, Acquaguard and ZunPure.

Cleantech startup Fluid Analytics has raised $1.6 million in its pre-Series A round led by Pravega Ventures and joined by an angel investor. The proceeds will be used to execute a global scale-up expansion starting with a focus on North America, the company said in a press release. Founded by Nidhi Jain and Asim R. Bhalerao, Fluid Analytics monitors water infrastructure health, waterway conditions, and the spread of water-borne diseases at scale. The startup claims to have successfully deployed solutions, monitored over 400 million gallons (1.5 billion litres) of urban wastewater spills and enabled the treatment and reuse of over 200 million gallons (800 million litres) daily. It continues to monitor a population of over 17.5 million for water-borne diseases, as an indicator of sewage spills. Its business model helps cities to combat water pollution sustainably, collaborating with utilities, contractors, and engineering firms. Early stage venture capital fund Pravega Ventures focuses on providing seed and pre-Series A funding. Its portfolio includes Crofarm (now Otipy), Fyle, SalarySe, Cashinvoice, and GrayQuest, among others.

Clean energy startup HYLENR has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round co-led by Valour Capital and Chhattisgarh Investments Limited, with participation from other investors such as Karthik Sundar Iyer and Anant Sarda. The proceeds will be used to enable it to fast-track from pilot to market launch and signaling growing investor confidence in LENR as a viable alternative to fossil fuels, HYLENR said in a press release. Launched in 2024, HYLENR Technologies is a next-generation energy startup, and its proprietary LENR-based hybrid heat systems aim to revolutionize thermal energy generation across industries such as manufacturing, oil & gas, district heating, and clean water desalination. According to the company, LENR is now protected by two patents, one for the product architecture, and another for the underlying process innovation. โ€œOur recent lab results show unprecedented energy gain ratios, and this round gives us the momentum to focus on our product roadmap. We have begun early proof-of-concept tests, with several government bodies and large corporations showing interest in our LENR systems. The next phase will focus on scaling manufacturing and expanding globally,โ€ said Siddhartha Durairajan, chairman and managing director of HYLENR. HYLENR says that its pilot projects are already underway with leading government institutions and industrial players, aimed at replacing conventional fossil-based systems with sustainable, next-generation alternatives. The companyโ€™s product pipeline includes products ranging from 7.2KW for domestic consumption all the way to 1MW for large-scale industrial applications.
