Vyapar posts Rs 63 Cr loss in FY25; cash reserve fades 93% Vyapar’s operating revenue rose 53% year-on-year to Rs 69 crore in FY25, up from Rs 45 crore in FY24, according to its consolidated financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Business accounting software provider Vyapar continued to operate deep in the red in FY25 even as it expanded its year-on-year scale. The Delhi-based company’s losses remained high, though they narrowed, and its cash buffer eroded significantly during the last fiscal year. Founded in 2018, Vyapar helps SMEs keep track of their receivables and payables, inventory management, send customized invoices, payment reminders and transaction messages in multiple languages. Revenue from the sale of its software’s license accounted for 90% of the income while the rest came from provision of its services (subscriptions fee). Employee benefits remained the company’s largest cost component accounting for 72% of the total expense. This expense increased 11% to Rs 102 crore in FY25 from Rs 92 crore in FY24. Other operating overheads such as customer support cost, rent, marketing, etc added the remaining Rs 39 crore to the total income which increased by 11% year-on-year to Rs 141 crore in FY25 from Rs 127.5 crore in FY24. At the bottom line, the company reduced its net loss by 13% to Rs 63 crore, compared to Rs 72.6 crore in FY24. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at -62.61% and -102.9% respectively. On a unit basis, the company spent Rs 2.04 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY25. The company’s current assets decreased to Rs 89 crore in FY25 from Rs 141 crore in FY24. Its cash and bank balance was cut by 93% to Rs 6 crore in FY25 from Rs 91 crore in FY24. Vyapar has raised a total of $36 million of funding till date, having Indiamart and WestBridge as its lead investors which owns 25.5% and 16% of the company respectively.

Revenue from its truck operator services was the primary source of revenue, accounting for 98% of total operating revenue. The company also made Rs 15 crore from interest income which took its overall revenue to Rs 137 crore in Q4 FY25, compared to Rs 99 crore in Q4 FY24. For the full fiscal year, the firm’s total revenue stood at Rs 462 crore in FY25. Looking at the expenses, the employee benefit cost accounted for 35% of the overall expenditure which fell 74% year-on-year to Rs 33 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 128 crore in Q4 FY24. Depreciation and other operating expenses were key overheads that drove total expenditure to Rs 95 crore in Q4 FY25, compared to Rs 187 crore in the same quarter last year. For the fiscal year ending March 2025, the firm’s total expenses fell to Rs 371 crore as compared to Rs 483 crore in FY24. Blackbuck booked profit before tax of Rs 41 crore in Q4 FY25, as compared to a loss of Rs 87 crore in Q4 FY24. Meanwhile, for the full fiscal year ended March 2025, the company remained at a loss of Rs 283 crore (before tax), 69% more than Rs 167 crore in FY24. Blackbuck debuted on the stock exchange at Rs 208.90 and is now trading at Rs 459 on May 27, bringing its total market capitalization to Rs 8,180 crore.

However, despite the strong topline growth, the company’s losses widened 26% in FY25. Smartworks’ revenue from operations increased by 32% to Rs 1374 crore in FY25 from Rs 1039 crore in FY24, according to its financial statement sourced from RHP. SmartWorks provides flexible office space for large enterprises, SMEs, and high-growth startups and leverages its robust phygital platform to deliver fully serviced, tech-enabled, flexible, and affordable workspaces. Lease rentals accounted for over 93% of its operating revenue, which rose by 29% to Rs 1,289 crore in FY25. Other sources included design and fit-out services at Rs 35 crore, ancillary services at Rs 49 crore, and a marginal Rs 1 crore from software fees. Smartworks added another Rs 36 crore from non-operating sources, which pushed its total revenue to Rs 1410 crore in FY25. On the expense side, the largest cost head was depreciation, which increased 35% to Rs 636 crore, followed by operating expenses of Rs 416 crore. Finance costs remained relatively stable at Rs 336 crore, while employee benefit expenses rose to Rs 65 crore. Overall, total expenses increased by 26% to Rs 1,489 crore in FY25 from Rs 1,180 crore in FY24. Despite revenue growth, the company’s loss increased by 26% to Rs 63 crore in FY25 as compared to Rs 50 crore in FY24. However, the company reported a positive EBITDA of Rs 893 crore in FY25 with an EBITDA margin of 63.3% and ROCE of 7.48%. On a unit level, Smartworks spent Rs 1.08 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY25, marginally better than the previous year’s ratio of Rs 1.14. The Gurugram-based company reported current assets worth Rs 255 crore in FY25, including Rs 69 crore in cash and bank balances. Smartworks is heading to the public markets with its Rs 583 crore IPO opening on July 10 and closing on July 14, 2025. The company has set a price band of Rs 387 to Rs 407 per share with a lot size of 36 shares, requiring a minimum investment of Rs 14,652 for retail investors.

Fintech firm Paytm announced its financial results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year (Q3 FY25) on Monday. The Noida-based company reported revenue of Rs 1,828 crore and a net loss of Rs 208 crore for the period. According to Paytm’s unaudited consolidated quarterly report filed with the National Stock Exchange, its revenue from operations declined by 35.9% year-on-year from Rs 2,850 crore in Q3 FY24 to Rs 1,828 crore in Q3 FY25. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the firm recorded a 10% increase in revenue compared to Q2 FY25 (the preceding quarter). Income from payment service revenue accounted for 55% of the total operating revenue which stood at Rs 1,003 crore in Q3 FY25 while the revenue from financial and marketing services were recorded at Rs 502 crore and Rs 267 crore in the same period. The company also added Rs 189 crore from other non-operating sources, bringing its overall revenue to Rs 2016.5 crore in Q3 FY25. For the fintech firm, its employee benefits remained the largest cost center accounting for 34% of the overall cost which decreased by 36% to Rs 756 crore in Q3 FY25. This includes Rs 182 crore as ESOP cost (non-cash). Its payment processing charges and marketing costs were reduced by 42% and 48.7% to Rs 570 crore and Rs 141 crore respectively in Q3 FY25 from Rs 982 crore and Rs 275 crore in Q3 FY24. Software, communication, legal, cashback, and other overheads took the total expenditure to Rs 2,220 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 3,216 crore in Q3 FY24. A reduction across all overhead departments enabled Paytm to narrow its losses by 6.3% to Rs 208 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 222 crore in Q3 FY24.

The company made additional Rs 21 crore from non-operating sources which pushed its total income to Rs 644 in FY25 from Rs 513 crore in FY24. When it comes to expenses, the firm incurred finance costs of Rs 44 lakh in FY25 which reduced by 50% from Rs 83 lakh in FY24. Depreciation and amortization rose marginally to Rs 34.5 crore. Notably, OneAssist didn’t disclose much information in the expense breakup beyond these figures. Overall, the firm’s total expenses rose by 21% to Rs 652 crore in FY25 compared to Rs 538 crore in FY24. OneAssist reported a net loss of Rs 11 crore in FY25, a 56% reduction from loss of Rs 25 crore in FY24. However the company reported a positive EBITDA of Rs 26 crore for the year with EBITDA margin of 4.10%. On a per-unit basis, the firm spent Rs 1.05 to earn a rupee in FY25, compared to Rs 1.06 in FY24, meanwhile its ROCE stood at -8.64%. The Mumbai-based company recorded current assets worth Rs 496 crore in FY25, which includes Rs 134 crore in cash and bank balances. Built around the same model as CPP India, the British owned firm where Gagan Maini was the CEO earlier, the firm has comfortably outpaced its ‘parent’, and in fact might be a top prospect to take over CPP India’s operations, which have been up for sale by the British parent. According to TheKredible, Peak XV (formerly Sequoia Capital) holds the largest stake in the company, owning nearly 29%. The company's co-founders, Subrat Pani and Gagan Maini, collectively own 12.32%.

Furlenco provides furniture and home decor for rent along with relocation services. Income from furniture rental services accounted for 91% of the operating revenue, which grew by 61% to Rs 208 crore in FY25. Income from the sale of products (furniture including sofas and beds), more than doubled to Rs 21 crore during the fiscal year ending March 2025. Including other non-operating activities such as treasury gains of Rs 11 crore, its total income rose to Rs 240 crore in FY25. The company streamlined its cost structure and reduced its total expense by 16% to Rs 237 crore in FY25 from Rs 282 crore in FY24. Employee benefits expenses decreased by 35% year-on-year to Rs 31 crore in FY25, while finance costs dropped 41% to Rs 19 crore in FY25. Cost of material, however, rose 33% to Rs 8 crore in FY25. Depreciation on the company’s furniture rose 29% to Rs 45 crore in FY25 from Rs 35 crore in FY24. With strong revenue growth and lower burn, Furlenco turned profitable and posted a profit of Rs 3 crore in FY25, in contrast to a loss of Rs 130 crore in FY24. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin improved significantly to 5.68% and 24.45%, respectively. On a per-unit basis, the firm spent Rs 1.03 to earn every rupee of operating revenue, compared to Rs 2.03 in FY24. Furlenco’s current assets stood at Rs 106 crore, including cash and bank balances of Rs 32 crore in FY25. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Furlenco has raised a total of $298 m in funding till date, with Sheela Foam and Lightbox Ventures as its lead investors. The company’s founder and chief executive, Ajith Mohan Karimpana owns 12% of the company. Furlenco certainly seems to have discovered a better playbook for its business, because numbers like these looked unlikely till last year. While the concept has certainly found takers, operating costs had been too high to offer hope of such a turnaround. So credit to the team for having pulled it off.

Home services marketplace Urban Company recorded a 38.2% year-on-year revenue growth to Rs 1,144 crore during the fiscal year ended March 2025 (FY25), according to its annual report. The company also swung to profitability in FY25 from a significant loss in FY24. Urban Company claims to have completed 6.8 million annual customer transactions across 17 super categories in 51 cities with a total net transaction value of Rs 3,115 crore (India+International). Urban Company offers a wide range of home services, including spa and salon treatments, AC repairs, electrical work, painting, wall panel installations, pest control, and more. It also generates revenue through the sale of its water purifier (native) and products sold to service professionals. Platform services continued to be the largest revenue driver for Urban Company, contributing 64.8% of its total operating income, which rose 32.5% to Rs 742 crore in FY25. Revenue from customer memberships grew marginally by 7.7% to Rs 98 crore. On the product sales front, the company saw a sharp 300% jump in revenue from its native water purifier, which surged to Rs 116 crore in FY25 from Rs 29 crore in FY24. The remaining Rs 188 crore came from product sales to service professionals. Of its total operating revenue, Rs 997 crore was generated from India, including the sale of water purifiers, while the remaining Rs 147 crore came from its international operations. It also added Rs 117 crore from interest and profits from the sale of mutual funds, which tallied the overall income to Rs 1,261 crore in FY25 from Rs 928 crore in FY24. Employee benefits emerged as the largest cost center for Urban Company in FY25, accounting for 28.6% of the total expenditure. This expense remained flat at Rs 350 crore, which includes a non-cash ESOP cost of Rs 72.5 crore. Spending on advertising and business promotion also held steady at Rs 207 crore during the year. Other cost heads, including materials, professional incentives, freight, payment gateway charges, outsourced support, and overheads, pushed the company’s total expenditure to Rs 1,223 crore in FY25, up from Rs 1,021 crore in FY24. According to its annual report, Urban Company’s India consumer services segment posted a profit of Rs 113 crore in FY25. However, its native water purifier vertical and international operations reported losses of Rs 38.7 crore and Rs 33.7 crore, respectively. The year-on-year growth, coupled with controlled expenditure, particularly in employee benefits and advertising, helped Urban Company to post a PBT (profit before tax) of Rs 28.5 crore in FY25, compared to a loss of Rs 92.7 crore in FY24. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin improved to a positive 2.46% and 6.68%, respectively, in FY25. On a unit level, it spent Rs 1.07 to earn a rupee of operating revenue. By the end of FY24, the company’s total current assets were recorded at Rs 1671 crore, with cash and bank balances of Rs 590 crore. Urban Company is set to launch its initial public offering (IPO). In April, the company filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to raise Rs 429 crore (approximately $50 million) through a fresh issue and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 1,471 crore. Urban Company, once enjoying a relatively uncontested market, is now facing growing competition from emerging startups such as Snabbit and Pronto. Meanwhile, Swiggy has also entered the on-demand professional services segment with its offering, Pyng.

Paytm’s revenue from operations increased to Rs 2,061 crore in Q2 FY26 from Rs 1,659 crore in Q2 FY25, according to unaudited consolidated financial statements scoured from the National Stock Exchange. As per the earnings call, its payment revenue grew 21% YoY to Rs 1,146 crore while income from the financial services biz saw a 63% growth to Rs 611 crore in Q2 FY26. The company also added Rs 222 crore from other non-operating sources, bringing its overall revenue to Rs 2,283 crore in Q2 FY26. Employee benefits remained the largest cost center, accounting for 32% of the overall expenditure, which stood at Rs 663 crore in Q2 FY26, followed by payment processing charges, which recorded at Rs 629 crore in the same period. Its marketing, software, technology, promotional incentive, and other indirect costs took the total expenditure to Rs 2,062 crore in Q2 FY26 from Rs 2,245 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. Despite the top-line growth, its net profit nosedived 98% YoY to Rs 21 crore from Rs 930 crore a year ago, largely due to the absence of a one-time gain that boosted the base quarter and an impairment loss booked this time. The company took a Rs 190 crore exceptional charge against loans extended to its gaming joint venture, First Games Technology, after the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which prohibits online gaming. Paytm’s cash and cash equivalents stood at Rs 1,835 crore as of September 2025, with total assets rising to Rs 22,537 crore from Rs 21,448 crore at the end of FY25. The company’s board also approved an additional investment of Rs 2,250 crore in Paytm Payments Services Ltd (PPSL) through a rights issue to strengthen the subsidiary’s net worth and fund the transfer of its offline payments business, in line with RBI’s regulatory guidance issued in September 2025. At the end of today’s session, Paytm’s shares were hovering at Rs 1,269 with the total market capitalization of Rs 46,523 crore or $5.2 billion.

However, its employee benefit expenses declined sharply by 33% to Rs 40 crore in FY25 from Rs 60 crore in FY24. Depreciation, finance costs, and professional fees collectively added another Rs 32.5 crore while other expenses, covering logistics, store operations, and miscellaneous overheads, rose 14.5% to Rs 169.5 crore. Overall, Ripple’s total expenses increased 12% to Rs 1,260 crore in FY25. Ripplr posted a loss of Rs 91 crore in FY25, almost identical to Rs 90 crore it lost in FY24. The firm’s ROCE and EBITDA margin improved slightly to -30% and -5.88% respectively. On a unit level, Ripplr spent Rs 1.08 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY25, compared to Rs 1.10 in the previous fiscal. The Bengaluru-based firm recorded cash and bank balances of Rs 63 crore, while current assets rose to Rs 381 crore in FY25. Ripplr is reportedly in discussions to raise Rs 400 crore from SBI and existing investors. Before this, the company raised over $45 million. Founded in 2015 by Akash Sinha and Reeju Datta, Cashfree provides businesses with a fast and easy way to collect payments online, make payouts, improve conversions, and verify identity and detect fraud during KYC and onboarding. The company claims to enable large businesses to process 12,000 transactions per second during peak demand. The revenue breakup for FY25 shows payment gateway commissions accounted for 75% of the operating revenue at Rs 481 crore. Payout commissions added another Rs 55 crore, while commission income from other services contributed the rest Rs 103 crore. With other income of around Rs 1 crore, the Bengaluru-based company posted a total income of Rs 641 crore in the last fiscal year. On the expense side, payment gateway processing cost accounted for 53% of the total expense, decreasing by 2% to Rs 419 crore in FY25 from Rs 427 crore in FY24. The company’s other key expense items include employee benefits, marketing, and technology investments. Its marketing expenses notably surged 150% to Rs 20 crore in FY25. The firm’s employee benefits costs remained flat at Rs 243 crore in FY25 compared to Rs 245 crore in FY24. Depreciation, finance cost and other overheads added another Rs 80 crore to the rising expenses. In the end, Cashfree’s total costs increased 2% to Rs 795 crore from Rs 779 crore last year. Although top-line performance remained stable, the company’s net loss widened 14% to Rs 154 crore from Rs 135 crore in the previous fiscal. Its EBITDA loss increased to Rs 132 crore, pushing the EBITDA margin down to -20.63% from -17.42% the previous year. In the coming year, Cashfree is expected to reduce its marketing expenses to lower losses and strengthen its financial position in FY26. The ban on real money gaming platforms is also expected to affect the business of payments firms including Cashfree significantly in the ongoing fiscal year. Ahead of FY26, Cashfree raised $53 million in a round led by Krafton, marking its first funding in nearly four years. Overall, the company has raised $95 million from investors including Y Combinator, Smilegate Investments, and the State Bank of India.
