Varaha, an end-to-end developer for carbon credits generated through sustainable farming practices, has raised $8.7 million in a funding round led by RTP Global. The Indian startup works with smallholder farmers across India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Kenya to help them adopt regenerative farming techniques. Varaha's platform uses remote sensing, machine learning, and scientific research to quantify emission reductions and soil organic carbon sequestration, leading to the creation of nature-based carbon credits. The funding will be used to expand access to carbon credits for farmers and enter new markets in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Africa.
