US court rejects challenges to FCC approval of SpaceX satellites

The U.S. Court of Appeals upheld the Federal Communications Commission's approval of SpaceX's plan to deploy thousands of Starlink satellites for broadband internet service. DISH Network and an environmental group had challenged the decision, but their claims were rejected. DISH argued that the FCC didn't adequately consider signal interference risks, while the environmental group claimed that environmental laws were not followed. The court ruled that the FCC's approval of SpaceX's satellite deployment was reasonable and lawful. Additionally, in 2022, the FCC turned down applications from SpaceX and LTD Broadband for funds under the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund. FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel defended the decision, stating that SpaceX failed to meet program requirements.
