TVS Motor Company reported a 6% YoY growth in total sales for September 2023, reaching 402,553 units compared to 379,011 units in the same period last year. Two-wheeler sales increased by 7% to 386,955 units, while motorcycle sales rose 10% and scooter sales increased by 8%. The company's exports also grew by 8% to 100,294 units. However, three-wheeler sales declined to 15,598 units.

Ola, Tata Motors continue to lead market in electric two-wheeler, passenger vehicle segments

According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Ola Electric and Tata Motors are leading the market in retail sales of electric two-wheelers (e2W) and passenger vehicles (PV) respectively. Ola Electric sold 32,252 e2W units in January, while Tata Motors sold 5,591 EV units. TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto were also significant players in the e2W segment. The total retail sales of e2W grew by 26.14% YoY. In the luxury car segment, BMW India and Mercedes-Benz India were the top performers. The electric three-wheeler segment saw a YoY growth of 54.45%.

The company's passenger vehicle sales for the fiscal year stood at 5,73,495 units, a 6% rise, while commercial vehicle dispatches declined by 4% to 3,78,060 units.

Ola Electric has seen a significant increase in market share, becoming a leader in the sales of two-wheeler electric vehicles for the fiscal year ending March 2024. Bajaj and TVS Motors have also experienced impressive gains. Ola's market share rose to 35% from 22%, Bajaj Auto went from 4.2% to 12.4%, and TVS Motors increased to 19.5% from 12%. Ather Energy maintained its market share at 11.5%. However, the gains for Ola and Bajaj came at the expense of Okinawa and Hero Electric. The increase in sales can be attributed to the expiration of FAME II subsidies and the government's interim policy. Ola Electric has also filed for a $660 million primary share sale.

In May 2025, the electric two-wheeler (E2W) segment achieved retail sales of 100,266 units, the second-highest monthly figure of the year. TVS Motor led the market with 24,560 units sold, a 107% year-on-year (YoY) growth, securing a 24% market share. Bajaj Auto followed closely with 21,770 units, a 135% YoY growth, holding a 22% market share. Ola Electric experienced a 51% YoY sales decline to 18,499 units but maintained an 18% market share. Ola slipped to third position behind Bajaj. Ather Energy sold 12,840 units, representing a 109% increase, gaining a 13% market share and surpassing Ola Electric in Q4 FY25 revenue with Rs 676 crore compared to Ola's Rs 611 crore. Hero MotoCorp re-entered the EV market with a 191% sales increase to 7,164 units.
