Online B2B travel distribution platform Travel Boutique Online (TBO) demonstrated a decent 30.8% Y-O-Y growth during the fiscal year ended March 2024. At the same time, the profits (PAT) of the company spiked with the same pace and surpassed Rs 200 crore in the same period. Travel Boutique’s revenue from operations grew to Rs 1,393 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,065 crore in FY23, its consolidated financial statements accessed from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) show. TBO Tek TBO is a travel distribution platform that extends white-label solutions to travel agents and tour operators. By facilitating air travel, hotel bookings, and tour packages, the platform makes money on commissions on these services. The commission from hotels and packages formed a significant 72.8% of the total operating revenue which increased 40.4% to Rs 1,014 crore during FY24. Commission from air ticketing contributed Rs 347 crore to its operating income. For the B2B travel distribution platform, the cost of providing services for air ticketing, hotels, and packages accounted for 40% of the overall expenditure. Online B2B travel distribution platform Travel Boutique Online (TBO) has added fresh employee stock options (ESOP) for its employees under its existing ESOP plans. The Nomination and Remuneration Committee at Travel Boutique Online has approved a special resolution to grant 2,44,500 employee stock options to its existing plan, its regulatory filing accessed through the National Stock Exchange (NSE) shows. Newly added ESOPs have a minimum vesting period of 1 year and the company fixed the exercise price at Rs 59.96. According to Entrackr’s estimates, the freshly added ESOPs are worth around Rs 44 crore or $5.3 million. Founded in 2006, TBO streamlines the travel industry for suppliers like hotels, airlines, car rental services, transfers, insurance providers, cruises, railways, and other vendors. For buyers, TBO facilitates the discovery and booking of travel across a wide range of destinations and segments worldwide. TBO Tek debuted on the stock exchange in May this year, with an IPO valued at Rs 1,550. This amount includes Rs 400 crore from fresh issues, while the remainder comes from an Offer for Sale (OFS) by selling 1.25 crore shares. Travel Boutique Online showcased robust financial health in the previous fiscal year (FY24), with revenue increasing by 30.8% to Rs 1,393 crore and profits rising to Rs 201 crore during the same period. The company is yet to file its first quarter result for the current fiscal year. TBO’s operating revenue increased to Rs 446 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 369 crore in Q3 FY24, its consolidated financial statements sourced from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) show. Income from the booking of hotels and packages accounted for 80% of TBO’s revenue, which increased to Rs 357 crore in Q4 FY25. Meanwhile, income from air ticketing and other allied services brought Rs 79 crore and Rs 10 crore to the firm’s coffers. Hotels and packages, as the top revenue source, made service fees the largest cost center, accounting for 33.75% of total expenditure or Rs 135 crore in Q4 FY25. Employee benefits were Rs 99 crore in the same quarter. Overall, total costs rose to Rs 400 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 325 crore in Q4 FY24. The decent surge in scale and controlled expenditure led TBO to post a 28.3% YOY increase in its profits after tax to Rs 59 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 46 crore in Q4 FY24. However, for the full fiscal year, it posted a 15% YoY increase in PAT to Rs 230 crore in the previous fiscal (FY25). At the end of today’s (Thursday, May 22) trading session, TBO Tek saw around a 3% decrease in its stock, which stood at Rs 1,197 with a total market capitalization of Rs 13,005 crore or ($1.53 billion).

The Gurugram-based company saw an increase in both revenue and profit during the first quarter of the current fiscal year. TBO’s operating revenue increased by 13.4% to Rs 418.46 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 369 crore in Q4 FY24, its unaudited consolidated financial statements sourced from National Stock Exchange (NSE) show. Income from booking of hotels and packages accounted for 76.63% of TBO’s revenue which increased to Rs 227 crore in Q1 FY25. Meanwhile, income from air ticketing brought Rs 23 core to the firm’s topline. When it comes to cost, TBO’s total expense grew by 11.1% to Rs 358.4 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 322.62 crore in Q4 FY24. Services fee was the largest cost center which accounted for 38.7% of the total expense. This expenditure stood at Rs 139 crore in Q1 FY25. The company also spent Rs 82.16 crore on salaries and other employee benefit schemes. TBO growth in scale enabled the firm to post a 31.3% spike in profits to Rs 60.91 crore in Q1 FY 25 from Rs 46.39 crore in Q4 FY24. For context, the company posted Rs 200 crore profits during FY24. The company went public in May this year, raising Rs 400 crore through a fresh issue and offering up to 12,508,797 equity shares for sale. As of August 13, TBO Tek is trading at Rs 1,632, with a total market capitalization of Rs 17,721 crore (around $2.1 billion).

Consumer technology company Glance has demonstrated impressive financial performance over the past two fiscal years (FY23 and FY24) registering a 3.4X growth from Rs 178 crore or $22 million in FY22 to Rs 614 crore or $73.1 million during the fiscal year ending March 2024. Glance’s revenue from operations grew 89% year-on-year to Rs 614 crore in FY24 from Rs 325 crore in FY23, according to its consolidated financial statements filed by the group’s holding entity in Singapore. Launched in 2019, Glance which is part of InMobi's ecosystem, is known for its AI-powered smart lock screen platform that transforms the way users engage with their smartphones. It has a user base of over 300 million. It brings together other consumer platforms like Roposo (shoppertainment) and Nostra (gaming) Advertising services contributed 54.7% of total revenue, growing by 35.7% to Rs 336 crore in FY24 from Rs 248 crore in FY23. Revenue from the commerce (shoppertainment) segment stood at Rs 254 crore. Glance also earned Rs 15.9 crore from financial income (interest) which tallied the overall revenue to Rs 640 crore in FY24. Like many technology startups, employee benefits were the largest cost driver for Glance, accounting for 28.28% of its total expenses. This cost saw a marginal increase, rising to Rs 444 crore in FY24 from Rs 424 crore in FY23. It includes Rs 71.4 crore as ESOP cost. Glance’s shipping, marketing/selling, and infrastructure costs stood at Rs 200 crore, Rs 436 crore and Rs 201 crore, respectively. Software, publisher, legal, and travel are some other overheads that took the overall burn to Rs 1,569 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,448 crore in FY23. The decent scale and controlled expenditure helped Glance to reduce its losses by 15% to Rs 929 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,094 crore in FY23. Notably, this marks the first fiscal year in which the company narrowed losses. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at -1191% and 134.9% respectively. On a unit level, it spent Rs 2.55 to earn a rupee in FY24. Glace has raised around $390 million and was valued at $1.6 billion in its last round of $200 million led by the Jio Platform in 2022. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Jio Platform is the largest external stakeholder with 20.27% followed by Google which owns 10.13%. Its parent company InMobi commands 50.45% of the company. Glance’s current assets stood at Rs 428 crore. As per the Fintrackr estimates, its enterprise value to revenue multiple was 21.8X.

Travel-tech platform IntrCity, which owns SmartBus and RailYatri, could not replicate its FY23 growth momentum in FY24. After achieving six-fold growth in FY23, the company recorded a modest 16% year-on-year revenue increase for the fiscal year ending March 2024. However, the Nandan Nilekani family trust-backed firm reduced its losses by over 52%, bringing them below Rs 10 crore in FY24. IntrCity's revenue from operations grew 15.9% to Rs 317.34 crore during FY24 as compared to Rs 273.9 crore in FY23, as per the company's consolidated financial statements with the Registrar of Companies. IntrCity operates web and mobile platforms for its brands, SmartBus and RailYatri. The flagship brand, IntrCity SmartBus, caters to long-distance bus routes across India, while RailYatri offers train travel services such as ticket booking and meal ordering. As per the filings, the majority of commission revenue came from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) during FY24. The company collected 93.8% of the revenue from bus operations which went up 16.9% to Rs 297.71 crore in FY24. It also earned Rs 18.08 crore from commission along with Rs 1.55 crore via advertisement services. Additionally, collection from interest and gain on financial assets (non-operating revenue) stood at Rs 3.38 crore. Including this, the company's overall revenue climbed to Rs 320.7 crore in FY24. On the expense side, the cost of revenue (direct cost for the distribution of services) accounted for 68.3% of the total expenditure. This cost grew 14.2% to Rs 225.8 crore in FY24 from Rs 197.8 crore in FY23. Operation and maintenance costs went up 9.3% to Rs 43.5 crore while spending on employee benefits remained almost flat at Rs 36.85 crore during the last fiscal year. The company incurred Rs 7.42 crore on advertisement and promotions and paid Rs 3.9 crore commission for catering and payment gateway services. In the end, IntrCity's expenses increased 9.7% to Rs 330.6 crore during FY24 in comparison to Rs 301.3 crore during FY23. On the back of controlled expenditure and double-digit growth in revenues, the firm managed to bring down its losses by 53.7% to Rs 9.9 crore in FY24. The losses were at Rs 21.4 crore in the previous fiscal year. Operating cash outflows of IntrCity also improved by 69.8% during the period and stood at Rs 6.1 crore. As of the last fiscal year, the firm's outstanding losses stood at Rs 242.5 crore. During FY24, the travel-tech platform managed to improve its EBITDA margin by 459 BPS to -2.08%. On a unit level, IntrCity spent Rs 1.04 to earn an operating revenue during the said period. IntrCity has Rs 17.4 crore in cash and bank balances while its total assets stood at Rs 41.2 crore for the fiscal year ended March 2024. As per the startup data intelligent platform TheKredible, IntrCity has raised over $50 million to date and was valued at around Rs 912 crore or $110 million in the latest funding round in February this year. Among online travel aggregator (OTA) platforms, MakeMyTrip is the largest player in terms of revenue. Ixigo, EaseMyTrip, Yatra, and Cleartrip are also the key players in the segment.

Progcap made an additional Rs 20 crore from interest on deposits and gains on current investments which pushed its total income to Rs 159 crore in FY24 from Rs 102 crore in FY23. On the expense side, employee benefit costs remained the largest expenditure, accounting for 61% of the total expense, to the tune of scale. This cost grew by 15% to Rs 124 crore in FY24. The firm’s finance costs surged sharply to Rs 22.5 crore from just Rs 1 crore in FY23. Other major expenses included collection deficiency charges (Rs 9.5 crore), travel expenses (Rs 6 crore), and miscellaneous costs. Overall, the company’s total expenses grew by 36% to Rs 203 crore in FY24 from Rs 149 crore in the preceding fiscal year. Progcap managed to cut its losses by 6% to Rs 46 crore in FY24 from Rs 49 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA Margin improved to -2.96% and -11.32% respectively. On a unit basis, the company spent Rs 1.46 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY24. The Delhi-based firm reported current assets worth Rs 1,321 crore which include Rs 163 crore of cash and bank balance in FY24. According to TheKredible, Progcap has raised a total of approx $112 million in funding to date, having Tiger Global, Peak XV, Creation Investments, and GrowX Ventures as its lead investors. Progcap’s co-founders, Pallavi Shrivastava and Himanshu Chandra, collectively hold a 23.41% stake in the company.

Titan-owned CaratLane has continued its growth trajectory as its revenue grew 42% in the fiscal year ending March 2024. The company’s profit dipped marginally due to aggressive expansion, though. CaratLane sells gold, silver, and diamond jewelry for both men and women through its website and network of offline stores. As per its website, the firm operates over 262 stores across 105 cities. The sale of the jewelry was the sole source of revenue for CaratLane in FY24. The company also earned Rs 25 crore from other financial activities, taking the overall revenue to Rs 3,106 crore in the said fiscal. For the jewelry maker, the cost of procurement of material/stones was naturally the largest cost center forming 69% of the total expenditure. The expansion of stores appears to be the reason for the marginal dip in PAT. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at 34.88% and 8.98%, respectively. CaratLane directly competes with Bluestone which recorded Rs 788 crore in operating revenue for FY23 and reportedly raised Rs 900 crore ($107 million) in pre IPO round. Online travel aggregator (OTA) Yatra has released its financial results for the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (Q3 FY24). After sinking into the red in Q2, the company bounced back and recorded profits in Q3 along with crossing Rs 110 crore revenue mark during the period. Yatra’s revenue from operations grew 17.2% to Rs 110.3 crore in Q3 FY24 as compared to Rs 94.13 crore Q2 FY24, as per the firm’s consolidated financial results sourced from the National Stock Exchange. While compared to Q3 of the previous fiscal year (Q3 FY23), the operating revenue of the company increased over 23% from Rs 89.6 crore. The company made 40.3% of its total operating revenue via Hotels and packages bookings which grew 23.4% to Rs 44.5 crore in Q3 FY24 from Rs 36.06 crore in Q2 of the same financial year. Revenue from air ticketing increased 5.9% to Rs 41.5 crore during the same period. The remaining Rs 24.3 crore came from other operating services and advertising income from hosting ads on its website, sale of coupons and vouchers and facilitating website access to travel insurance company. Yatra also earned Rs 8.86 crore as non-operating income (mainly from interest and gains on financial assets). This took the overall revenue to Rs 119.2 crore during the quarter. On the cost front, service cost which only relates to its hotel and packages vertical accounted for 23% of the total expenses. This cost surged 68.7% to Rs 26.9 crore in Q3 from Rs 15.95 crore in Q2 of the same fiscal. Whereas, employee benefits expenses for the company shrank 12.6% to Rs 32 crore during the quarter from Rs 36.6 crore in Q2 FY24. Yatra also incurred marketing and promotion costs of Rs 10.7 crore and payment gateway expense of Rs 12.7 crore in Q3 FY24. In total, Yatra’s overall expenditure increased just 3% to Rs 117 crore during Q3 from Rs 113.6 crore in Q2 FY24. With the controlled expenses, Yatra turned profitable and booked Rs 1.06 crore profits Q3 against Rs 17.13 crore loss in the previous quarter. Last year in the same quarter (Q3 FY23), it posted Rs 5.6 crore in losses. On a unit level, Yatra Online spent Re 1.06 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in Q3 of FY24. For the nine-months period (Apr-Dec 2023), the firm registered Rs 314.6 crore revenue from operations with a loss of Rs 10.08 crore. Yatra Online made its entry into the Indian public market in September last year with a share price of around Rs 136. With a market cap of over Rs 2,700 crore, it is currently trading at Rs 170 per share. However, the company made a turnaround in its bottom line, transitioning from a loss of Rs 70 crore in FY23 to a profit of Rs 594 crore in FY24. Info Edge’s revenue from operations grew 8% to Rs 2,536 crore in FY24 from Rs 2,345 crore in FY23, its consolidated financial statements disclosed with the stock exchange shows. Meanwhile, the company posted a 4.8% increase in revenue to Rs 657 crore in Q4 FY24 from Rs 627 crore in Q3 FY24. The Sanjeev Bikchandani-led firm operates through different segments. Income from Naukari.com and related portals formed 74.1% of its total revenue which increased 7.49% to Rs 1,880 crore in FY24. Its other segment 99acres saw a 23.6% growth to Rs 351 crore in FY24. Jeevansathi and Shiksha combined participated with Rs 305 crore of revenue during FY24. Info Edge made Rs 414 crore from non-operating activities tallying its total revenue to Rs 2,950 crore in FY24. Akin to other internet companies, its employee benefits accounted for 61% of its total expenditure which grew only 2.83% to Rs 1,128 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,097 crore in FY22. Info Edge’s network/internet, advertising cum promotional, legal, traveling and other overheads push the total expenditure to Rs 1830 crore in FY23 from Rs 1,858 crore in FY23. Note 1: The company recorded exceptional items of Rs 110 crore and Rs 509 crore in FY24 and FY23 respectively due to the decrease in the carrying value of investments. This was the primary reason for the significant loss posted in FY23. Note 2: The company has 15 joint ventures including Makesense, Happily Unmarried’s Ustraa (now acquired by VLCC), Shopkirana, Juno, Sploot and others during FY24. Info Edge recorded a share loss of Rs 131 crore and 231 crore in FY24 and FY23 respectively in its joint ventures which also makes a part of its consolidated figures and reflects losses in the financial statements. At the end, Indo Edge posted a net profit of Rs 594 crore in FY24 where the figures stood at a loss of Rs 70 crore in FY23 (refer note 1 and 2).
