Two German tourists found themselves stranded in the Australian wilderness after following Google Maps' directions. Philipp Maier and Marcel Schoene were attempting to drive to Bamaga from Cairns when Google Maps led them onto a dirt track in a remote part of Queensland. The car became stuck in mud, forcing the pair to embark on a week-long hike back to Cairns. This is not the first incident of hikers encountering trouble after relying on Google Maps for navigation. Google has since removed the path and apologized for the incident.
