Consumer Reports has highlighted serious security flaws in video doorbells sold by Chinese company Eken under various brand names, including Aiwit, Andoe, and Eken. These cameras reportedly expose users' IP addresses and broadcast unsecured snapshots of their front porch, posing a risk of hacking. The vulnerable cameras have been available for sale on platforms like Amazon, with no immediate response from the e-commerce giant. Additionally, hackers can obtain camera serial numbers simply by holding down the doorbell button, and then gain full access to video, audio, and images. These security concerns highlight the need for greater scrutiny and regulation of IoT devices.
