The march towards an all-EV future hit a major roadblock. What went wrong?

The transition to an all-electric vehicle (EV) future in the US has encountered significant roadblocks. While EV sales are on the rise, the pace of adoption has slowed, and analysts believe that the country is not on track to meet government sales targets. Insufficient charging infrastructure and a lack of affordable EV options have contributed to the slowdown. Additionally, the focus on big electric SUVs and trucks has led to larger, more expensive vehicles that require more raw materials and have limited range, making them less practical for many consumers. The Norwegian model, often touted as inspiration for the US EV policy, has its own challenges and is not a silver bullet. To truly tackle the climate crisis and transportation problems, a broader approach that includes smaller EVs, hybrid cars, and improved public transportation is needed.
