Tesla lays off more staff in software, service teams
Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is reportedly cutting jobs in its software, service, and engineering departments as part of a broader organizational restructuring. The company, facing declining sales and increased competition, aims to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. Tesla plans to lay off over 6,700 employees in various locations, including Texas, California, Nevada, and New York. The cuts come amid the company's focus on developing autonomous driving software, robotaxis, and a humanoid robot. Despite the layoffs, Tesla's shares rose by more than 1%. The restructuring is expected to cost the company over $350 million in the second quarter.
