Team of experts found ways to help young people addicted to social media to cut the craving

A team of researchers has developed a four-week intervention program to help young people combat social media addiction. More than 500 college students participated in the study, setting goals to reduce their time spent on social media and reflecting on their experiences. The intervention significantly reduced addiction levels, with those starting with problematic or clinical addiction showing a 26% and 35% mean reduction, respectively. Participants reported positive changes in their relationships with social media and an increased focus on genuine communication rather than mindless scrolling. Taking practical steps like turning off notifications and curating their social media feeds can also help reduce dependence on social media.
