Tata’s Dholera Plant Likely To Roll Out India’s First Chip By 2026

The construction of a Tata Group and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) semiconductor plant in Gujarat, India, is set to begin this year, with a total investment of up to $11 billion. The plant is expected to start production by the end of 2026, initially focusing on 28 nm chips and later moving to 22 nm. The facility will have a manufacturing capacity of up to 50,000 wafers per month and will produce chips for various applications, including power management, display drivers, microcontrollers, and high-performance computing logic. This project is aimed at capturing the growing demand in automotive, computing, data storage, wireless communication, and artificial intelligence markets.
