Initially positioned as an alternative to Firebase, Supabase is now recognized for its focus on Postgres, which has grown in popularity. The platform supports various services, including authentication, storage, and vector search for AI use cases, with about 10% of its active databases powering AI projects. Enterprises like Meta and Microsoft are increasingly adopting Supabase for experimental applications. The company's co-founder, Paul Copplestone, highlighted its ease of use and integration with Postgres as key factors for its success. Supabase has gained significant traction, including use by 40% of Y Combinator startups.
