Emad Mostaque, the founder and CEO of unicorn startup Stability AI, has stepped down from his position and the company's board. Stability AI, backed by investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners and Coatue Management, has not yet found a permanent replacement for the CEO role. In the meantime, the interim co-CEOs will be COO Shan Shan Wong and CTO Christian Laforte. Mostaque's departure comes as Stability AI has experienced challenges, including losing key talent and struggling to raise new funding. Mostaque cited his desire to pursue decentralized AI and advocate for transparent and distributed governance in the industry as reasons for his departure.
