SpiceJet challenges court order to ground leased engines, cites public inconvenience | Mint

SpiceJet, faced with financial difficulties, has appealed to the division bench of the Delhi High Court to reverse a single-bench order that grounded three leased engines due to the airline's failure to make rental payments. The division bench has scheduled the hearing for 20 August, despite SpiceJet's plea for urgent attention. The original order also requires the airline to return the engines within 15 days, following the lessors' rejection of an offer to pledge shares as collateral. SpiceJet's ongoing financial struggles have resulted in legal challenges and contempt proceedings. The airline plans to raise ā‚¹3,000 crore through a qualified institutional placement to alleviate these issues.
