Space startup Firefly valued at over $2 billion in latest funding round

Firefly Aerospace, a space startup that manufactures small and medium launch vehicles, has raised $175 million in a funding round led by RPM Ventures. The investment values the company at over $2 billion. Firefly plans to use the capital to expand the market reach of its Elytra spacecraft and accelerate production of its Alpha rocket. It is also preparing for its first mission to the moon, under NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Service initiative. Existing investors and new entities, including GiantLeap Capital and Human Element, participated in the funding round. Firefly is collaborating with Northrop Grumman to develop a medium launch vehicle and has contracts with Lockheed Martin, L3Harris, and NASA.
