D2C sneaker brand Comet has raised Rs 42.3 crore (approximately $5 million) in its Series A round led by Elevation Capital. This is the first round of investments for the Bengaluru-based company in 2024. The board at Comet has passed a special resolution to issue 10 equity and 50,076 Series A CCPS at an issue price of Rs 8,445 each to raise Rs 42.3 crore or $5 million, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies shows. Elevation Capital led the round with Rs 33.36 crore while existing investors Nexus Ventures and AngelList India participated with Rs 8.34 crore and Rs 60 lakhs respectively. The company will use these proceeds for capital expenditures, marketing, and general corporate purposes as per the business plan, the filing added. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredibe, Comet has been valued at around Rs 167 crore or $20 million post-allotment. The startup raised its seed capital in February last year. Following the fresh proceeds, Elevation Capital and Nexus Ventures will hold 20% each while AngelList India will command 2.22% of the capital in the company. Founded in July 2023, Comet is a homegrown, lifestyle sneaker brand for both men and women which sells its products through its website. Its current portfolio includes CometX, Aeon, and Slides. According to Comet, its TAM (total addressable market) is expected to be $22 billion while the companyโ€™s serviceable addressable market (SAM) is expected to be $1.5 billion by FY 2030. Comet competes with Wrong, HRX, Redtape, The Roadster, Campus, Sparx and other multinational footwear brands like Nike and Adidas.

Sneaker brand Gully Labs has raised Rs 26.5 crore ($3 million) in its Series A round, led by Saama Capital, with participation from seed round investor Zeropearl and other individual investors. The board at Gully Labs has passed a resolution to issue 10 equity shares and 31,925 Series A compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS) at an issue price of Rs 8,301 per share, aiming to raise Rs 26.50 crore, as per its regulatory filing with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Saama Capital led the round with an investment of Rs 22.6 crore, while seed-stage backer Zeropearl followed with Rs 3.5 crore. The round also saw participation from Teppan (Rs 20 lakh), Unacademy co-founder Roman Saini (Rs 10 lakh), Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD and CEO Radhika Gupta (Rs 10 lakh), and angel investor Aditya Bhalla (Rs 4 lakh). According to the filings, the fresh funds will be utilised for business expansion and other corporate purposes. As per Entrackrโ€™s estimates, Gully Labs is valued at around Rs 147 crore ($16.25 million) on a post-money basis. Following the fresh allotment, Saama Capital VI LP has emerged as the largest shareholder with a 15.40% stake, while Zeropearl Fund holds 10.21%. Before this round, the company had secured around $1 million in seed capital in June last year. Co-founded in 2023 by Arjun Singh and Animesh Mishra, Gully Labs operates a direct-to-consumer footwear brand focused on sneakers inspired by Indian street culture. The company designs and manufactures its products in-house and primarily sells through its own website. Gully Labs is yet to file its FY25 financial results. The company competes with players such as Comet, which raised $5 million in 2024, Neemans, which has recently kicked off fresh fundraising, as well as Solethreads, Zeesh, and others.

The equity round was led by Zeropearl VC along with participation from Untitled Ventures, Atrium Ventures, and other prominent angel investors including Bounce co-founder & CEO Vivekananda Hallekere, Suhasini Sampath, Nishchay AG, Renee Cosmetics founder Ashutosh Valani, Anurag Ramadasan, and Rahul Seth, while Stride Ventures led the debt investment. Prior to this, the company had secured Rs 1.1 crore in equity during its pre-seed round in 2024. The fresh capital will be deployed towards diversifying the product mix, expanding sales channels, and opening physical retail stores, Gully Labs said in a press release. Co-founded in 2023 by Arjun Singh and Animesh Mishra, Gully Labs crafts handmade sneakers, blending premium materials with culturally rich design stories โ€” from Phulkari-embroidered trainers to Onam-inspired silhouettes. Gully Labs sells its products through its website and in select partner stores across Indian metros. The company plans to build a larger production facility, broaden its product line across diverse sneaker styles, and deepen its reach across India and global markets. It also plans to launch exclusive retail outlets as part of its omni-channel strategy.

Footwear startup RARA Barefoot has raised $500K in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round and announced the launch of its debut sneaker line. The round is led by founders and senior operators from Zomato, Urban Company, Tata 1mg, Shyft, and HexaHealth, along with Managing Directors and Partners from ChrysCapital and BCG. The proceeds will be used to support its national D2C rollout, the establishment of select offline retail partnerships, and local manufacturing scale-up as the brand prepares to bring barefoot sneakers to Indian consumers, RARA Barefoot said in a press release. Co-founded in 2024 by Varun Mimani and Manas Tripathi, RARA Barefoot is a performance footwear company pioneering barefoot sneakers. By combining evolutionary design with modern aesthetics, RARA aims to create footwear that lets the body move naturally the way nature intended. RARA launches as a direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand, with its first collection available online at its website. The company plans to expand through select multi-brand stores and experience-driven offline pop-ups in major cities in 2026. According to RARA Barefoot, each sneaker offers three designs such as a flat sole with zero heel-toe drop, a wide toe box for natural toe spread, and a flexible sole that bends with the footโ€™s 33 joints. All sneakers are manufactured in India, combining global barefoot design with locally sourced, high-performance materials. As per market research, the India sneaker market is expected to reach $4,665.9 million by 2030, with a CAGR of 5.7%.
