Semiconductor Fabs Will Boost India’s Tech Self-Reliance: Modi

The Indian government has approved the establishment of three semiconductor plants, including a mega fab by Tata Group, with a total investment of INR 1.26 lakh crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that these units will enhance India's journey to technological self-reliance and position the country as a global hub in semiconductor manufacturing. The Tata Group will partner with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp to set up a semiconductor fab in Gujarat. Two other semiconductor proposals by Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd (TSAT) and CG Power-Renesas have also been approved. Additionally, Samsung has unveiled a new semiconductor research and development facility in Bengaluru.
