SC issues contempt notice to Patanjali, MD Acharya Balkrishna

The Supreme Court has issued a contempt notice to Patanjali Ayurved and its Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna for violating the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act by publishing advertisements that falsely claim their products offer "permanent relief" for various diseases. The court criticized the company for breaking its promise to refrain from making such claims. The court also questioned the government's inaction on the matter and asked whether it had taken any steps to address Patanjali's misleading advertisements. The company and its MD have been asked to respond to the contempt notice within two weeks.
