Samsung workers call off month-long strike, to return to work, says Tamil Nadu govt | Mint

The 37-day strike at Samsung India's plant near Chennai has ended after resolutions were made and management announced welfare initiatives. Discussions between officials and relevant parties, initiated by the Tamil Nadu Labour Department, led to the strike being called off immediately. The Samsung India management has committed to implementing measures for the workers' benefit and will not victimize those who participated in the protest. The striking workers have expressed willingness to cooperate with management and actions harming the company's interests will be avoided. The Chennai plant employs around 1,800 permanent staff and produces refrigerators, TVs, and washing machines.
