Samsung delays taking deliveries of ASML's chip gear for its new US factory, sources say

Samsung Electronics has reportedly postponed the delivery of ASML chipmaking equipment for its factory in Texas, as the company has yet to secure any major customers for the project. The delay in equipment delivery is a setback for Samsung's ambitions to expand into contract chip manufacturing and compete with Taiwan's TSMC. The move highlights the increasing gap between Samsung and its rivals, as competitors ramp up production to meet growing demand for high-end chips used in AI applications. ASML, the world's largest chipmaking equipment supplier, recently lowered its sales forecast due to market weakness, and did not disclose the clients who delayed equipment deliveries.
