Former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, dismissed by the board due to a lack of confidence, is now joining Microsoft's new advanced AI research team alongside co-founder Greg Brockman. Despite negotiations for Altman's return to OpenAI failing, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced their appointments, expressing excitement about the new AI team. OpenAI's interim CEO, Emmett Shear, replaces Mira Murati. Altman had negotiated to return as CEO, but OpenAI's board remained unchanged, prompting his move to Microsoft.
