Rangsons Aerospace, a product technology firm for aerospace, defense and homeland security, has raised Rs 300 crore ($36.5 million) led by ValueQuest Investment Advisors and had Anand Rathi Advisors as the financial advisor for the transaction. The proceeds will be used to produce products and solutions for the commercial and military aviation markets globally, and drive growth into new business areas through strategic acquisitions. Rangsons Aerospace is part of NR Group, a business group based in Mysore. It has three facilities across Bangalore and Mysore. Its product lines include satellite communications systems, airborne thermal management, and fluid distribution solutions. Rangsons is a tier I partner to global aerospace majors such as Boeing, GE, and Honeywell, among others. It also supplies several critical systems to Indian majors such as ISRO, Indian Navy, HAL and others.

Unimech Aerospace has raised Rs 250 crore ($30 million) from Steadview Capital Mauritius Limited, ValueQuest Scale Fund, and Evolvence India Fund IV Ltd as a part of its private placement round. This is the maiden funding round for the Bengaluru-based company since its inception in 2016. As per the company, it has raised the funds at a post-money valuation of Rs 3,250 crore ($390 million). The proceeds will be used to pursue both organic and inorganic growth and refine products, the company said in a press release. Led by Anil Puthan, Unimech Aerospace specializes in manufacturing of high precision tooling for aero-engines and airframes, along with complex high precision components, assemblies, and for the aerospace, defence, energy, and semiconductor industries. Its key clients include top aerospace, energy, defence and semiconductor OEMs. The firm has also established itself as an export-oriented company with a presence in the USA, Europe, and the United Kingdom. For the fiscal year ended in March 2023(FY23), Unimechโ€™s revenue jumped to Rs 28 crore from Rs 16 crore while it maintained its profitability with Rs 2.81 crore in FY23 from Rs 1.69 crore in FY22. Unimech claims to have grown to over Rs 200 crore ($24 million) in revenue by FY24. The company also said that it is in the process of filing a draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India. Since January 2021, 26 tech startups have gone public and Unimech will become the first venture funded aerospace manufacturing company to go public in India. In the last couple of months, several established startups and companies have raised their maiden external or venture capital funding. The list includes workspace solution provider Incuspaze, ethnic wear brand Libas, consumer electronics startup Indkal, and performance wear brand TechnoSport.

MS Dhoni-backed Garuda Aerospace raises Rs 100 Cr in Series B round Drone technology startup Garuda Aerospace has raised Rs 100 crore ($11.6 million) in its Series B funding round led by Venture Catalysts (VCAT) at a post-money valuation of $250 million. Previously, the firm had raised $22 million in its Series A round led by Venture Capital firm SphitiCap in February 2023. The fresh proceeds will be used to scale up drone manufacturing, enhance production capabilities, and complete an R&D and testing center focused on defense drone technology. Founded in 2015 by Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Garuda has grown to a team of over 200 members and manufactures 30 drone types while offering 50 services. Garuda currently holds over 20 patents and operates a fleet of over 400 drones with 500 trained pilots across 84 cities. It serves clients including government agencies and major corporations such as TATA, Reliance, and Adani. It has also partnered with global companies like Lockheed Martin and Elbit Systems. As per TheKredible, Garuda Aerospaceโ€™s revenue from operations grew by 2.3X to Rs 110 crore in FY24 from Rs 47 crore in FY23. Its net profit reached Rs 16 crore in FY24, a 2.7X increase from Rs 6 crore in the previous year. Garuda competes with the likes of ideaForge, Aarav Unmanned Systems, Throttle Aerospace Systems, General Aeronautics, and Omnipresent Robot Tech in the drone manufacturing and drone-as-a-service (DaaS) segment across defense, agriculture, and industrial applications.

Aerospace and defense startup Dream Aerospace has raised Rs 3 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). The fresh funds will be allocated towards accelerating the development of its ATOM Thruster, validating the propulsion system, and establishing an in-house high-altitude test facility, Dream Aerospace said in a press release. Co-founded in 2022 by Hari Krishnan KJ and Rogith S, Dream Aerospace aims to empower satellite propulsion systems by offering high-performance, cost-effective, and scalable solutions tailored to diverse mission needs. It leverages indigenous technology and aligns with Indiaโ€™s "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives, making it a preferred partner for both commercial and defense applications. The Chennai-based startup develops customizable, affordable, and agile thrusters to enhance satellite operations and space missions. Furthermore, the company prioritizes safety by improving fuel handling processes for ground personnel. It addresses the critical demand for environmentally friendly and efficient propulsion systems, paving the way for a more sustainable future in aerospace technology. Dream Aerospace claims that it delivers superior propulsion performance at a significantly lower cost compared to international alternatives. Currently outsourcing production to meet early market demands, it plans to establish in-house production facilities with an annual capacity of 40โ€“50 thrusters, ensuring scalability and efficiency. Dream Aerospace aspires to enable cutting-edge, efficient, and scalable solutions that empower the next generation of CubeSats and larger satellites.
