Prompt engineers, a new breed of AI engineers, are in high demand as companies look to fine-tune AI models to generate specific content. These professionals, including individuals with backgrounds in marketing and law, manipulate AI models by using natural language prompts. While some criticize the role as a passing fad, others argue that prompt optimization should be left to AI models rather than humans. Research suggests that automatic prompt optimization produces better results than human intervention. However, many prompt engineers remain uncertain about the future of their roles in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
