Palo Alto Networks' firewall bug under attack brings fresh havoc to thousands of companies

Palo Alto Networks has issued an urgent patch to fix a zero-day vulnerability in its GlobalProtect firewall products after hackers began exploiting the bug to access corporate networks. The vulnerability, known as CVE-2024-3400, allows hackers to take control of the affected firewall remotely over the internet without authentication. The company has given the bug a maximum severity rating and has advised customers to update their systems as it has observed an increasing number of attacks exploiting this vulnerability. Over 156,000 potentially affected Palo Alto firewall devices were identified. This incident highlights the ongoing vulnerabilities in corporate security devices such as firewalls and VPN products.
