Gemini, Google's suite of multimodal AI models, has gained popularity among developers, with over 1.5 million users worldwide. India specifically has one of the largest developer bases on Google AI Studio. Gemini 1.5 Pro now offers a two million token context window, allowing for more comprehensive results. Google has also released Gemma2, the next generation of open models for AI innovation. The team at Google DeepMind India has been focused on enabling open-source resources to help developers build language solutions for India. They have completed phase 1 of Project Vaani, which involves capturing spoken languages, and are moving on to phase 2. A benchmark called IndicGenBench has been introduced for Indian languages, along with the CALM framework that allows developers to combine their specialized language models with Gemma models. The Agricultural Landscape Understanding (ALU) Research API has also been announced to make agricultural practices more data-driven and efficient. Google Wallet APIs and India-specific pricing for Google Maps Platform are being introduced to simplify integration and lower costs for developers. Collaboration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is offering discounts on select Google Maps Platform APIs for ONDC developers.
