OpenAI cofounder John Schulman leaves ChatGPT maker for rival Anthropic

John Schulman, co-founder of OpenAI, has announced his departure from the company to join competitor Anthropic. Schulman stated that his decision is based on his desire to focus on AI alignment and return to hands-on technical work. OpenAI's president and co-founder, Greg Brockman, also announced that he will be taking a sabbatical through the end of the year. This news follows other significant personnel changes at OpenAI, including the reassignment of AI safety leader Aleksander Madry and the departure of co-founder Ilya Sutskever and founding member Andrej Karpathy. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently revived his lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of prioritizing profits over public good.
