Nvidia jumps ahead of itself and reveals next-gen “Rubin” AI chips in keynote tease

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the company's new AI-accelerating GPU platform and detailed plans for upcoming chip releases during his keynote at Computex 2024. He introduced the Blackwell Ultra chip planned for 2025 and a subsequent platform called "Rubin" set for 2026. Huang hinted at possible regrets for prematurely announcing the Rubin platform, but shared that it will leverage new high-bandwidth memory technology and offer cost and energy savings. Additionally, Nvidia unveiled a new ARM-based CPU called "Vera," which will be featured on an accelerator board alongside one of the Rubin GPUs. The announcement demonstrates Nvidia's confidence despite competition from companies like AMD and Intel.
