NPS’ new balanced lifecycle fund: Can it add value to your retirement portfolio?

The National Pension System (NPS) has introduced a new investment option called the Balanced Life Cycle Fund. This fund automatically rebalances asset classes based on the investor's age and risk profile. The maximum equity allocation is set at 50% for investors up to 45 years old and gradually tapers off to 35% for those over 55. The purpose of this fund is to protect the retirement corpus against market volatility. This option allows for a higher equity allocation compared to other auto fund options and aims to cater to the preferences of younger investors. Financial advisors believe that the active allocation option provides more potential for higher returns and a larger retirement fund.
