However, the notable top-line came at a cost, as the Delhi-based company’s profit declined by 37%. Boult’s revenue from operations increased by 40% to Rs 697 crore in FY24 from Rs 498 crore in FY23, according to its financial statement sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Founded in 2017, Boult Audio designs, develops and manufactures wireless earbuds, headphones, smartwatches, and speakers. Revenue from sale of these products remained the sole source of revenue. The company’s revenue majorly came from domestic sales, which grew 45% to Rs 620 crore in FY24. Revenue from overseas sales remained stable at Rs 77 crore, contributing 11% to the top line. Boult made additional Rs 5 crore from non-operating revenue which pushed its total revenue to Rs 702 crore in FY24 from Rs 501 crore in FY23. On the expense side, the largest cost component—cost of material consumed—rose 25% to Rs 402 crore, accounting for nearly 58% of total expenses. Advertising expenditure spiked 74% to Rs 162 crore, while post-supply discounts grew 84% to Rs 70 crore. These two expenditures collectively accounted for over 33% of its total expenses. Employee benefit expenses rose by over 50% year-on-year to Rs 26 crore in FY24. Other overheads, including admin and general expenses, added Rs 39 crore to the total cost. Overall, total costs increased by 41% to Rs 699 crore in FY24. As overall costs outpaced revenue growth, Boult’s net profit declined by 37% to Rs 2.5 crore in FY24 from Rs 4 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at 52.94% and 2.64%, respectively. On a unit level, Boult Audio spent Rs 1.00 to earn each rupee of revenue. As of March 2024, the company recorded current assets worth Rs 211 crore including Rs 9 crore in cash and bank balance. Boult’s inventories stood at Rs 964.5 crore during the same period—up 63% from FY23. This significant buildup suggests Boult is preparing for high-volume sales, possibly ahead of festive seasons or upcoming launches. Boult made its first recorded CSR contribution of Rs 12.23 lakh in FY24. According to TheKredible, Boult Audio has remained unfunded till date. Its co-founders, Varun Gupta and Tarun Gupta together own 49.5% of the company. Its director Vinod Gupta holds a 23.76% stake, while Pankhuri Gupta, who leads design at Boult, holds 25.74% stake in the company. The firm competes directly with homegrown electronics rivals boAt and Noise. In FY24, market leader boAt reported revenue of Rs 3,118 crore but closed the year with a loss of Rs 80 crore. Noise followed with Rs 1,431 crore in revenue and a loss of Rs 19 crore.

Proptech firm Square Yards has announced its results for the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year. The Gurugram-based company saw a 52% increase in its revenue during Q1 FY25 compared to Q1 FY24. Square Yards’ revenue from operations surged to Rs 261 crore in Q1 FY25, with a gross transaction value of Rs 10,053 crore, compared to Rs 172 crore in revenue and a gross transaction value of Rs 6,674 crore in Q1 FY24, the company said in a press release. In the fiscal year ending March 2024, the company reported revenue of Rs 1,004 crore with EBITDA profitability. However, the net losses of Square Yards stood at Rs 216 crore FY24. Income from financial services along with real estate services formed 83% of the total operating revenue for Square Yards which increased 48% and 61% YoY respectively. The press release added that its digital services also saw an impressive growth of 145% in the same period. Square Yards is a full-stack proptech platform, playing the entire consumer journey including search, discovery, transactions, mortgages, home furnishing, rentals, and property management. The company claims to have more than 8 million monthly traffic and approximately $5 billion GTV with a presence in more than 100 cities across 9 countries. In the first quarter of the current fiscal year (Q1 FY25), Square Yards reported a gross profit of Rs 25 crore with a negative EBITDA margin of Rs 32 crore, compared to a gross profit of Rs 15 crore and a negative EBITDA margin of Rs 29 crore in Q1 FY24. The company has projected Rs 1,506 crore revenue in the full year of FY25 up from Rs 1,004 crore in FY24 with a positive EBITDA of Rs 101 crore.

Notably, the Peak XV-backed company reduced its losses by 90% and achieved EBITDA positivity with Rs 65.9 crore during the same period. Wakefit’s revenue from operations increased to Rs 986.4 crore in FY24, as compared to Rs 812.6 crore in the previous fiscal year, its financial statement filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) shows. Wakefit's revenue was predominantly driven by the sale of products, which increased 21.47% and accounted for Rs 967.86 crore in FY24. Income from scrap sales and other minor sources also rose by 16.73% to Rs 18.49 crore during the said fiscal year. The firm’s income from interest on bank deposits surged 5.8X to Rs 19.38 crore, pushing its total revenue to Rs 1,017.33 crore in FY24. The cost of materials remained the largest expense at Rs 465 crore, contributing 45.04% of total costs. Employee benefit expenses grew by 27.3% to Rs 134.63 crore. Courier and delivery charges increased by 24.8% to Rs 82.19 crore, while advertising expenses dropped by 19.3% to Rs 77.36 crore. Other expenses added another Rs 273.2 crore in FY24. The firm’s total expenses rose by 6.9% to Rs 1,032.4 crore in FY24. In the end, Wakefit managed to decline its losses by 90% to Rs 15 crore from Rs 145 crore in FY23. Despite losses, the Bengaluru-based company achieved positive EBITDA at Rs 65.9 crore in FY24. Its ROCE and EBITDA margins improved to 0.29% and 6.48%, respectively. On a unit basis, Wakefit spent Rs 1.05 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY24. Its current assets grew significantly to Rs 574 crore, while its cash and bank balances were recorded at Rs 17.21 crore in FY24. According to TheKredible, Wakefit has raised a total of $105.5 million to date. Its leading investors include Peak XV Partners, Verlinvest, and SIG.

Amazon India’s marketplace revenue has continued to outpace Flipkart Marketplaces, with collections from its platform and related services crossing the Rs 25,000 crore mark and registering an adjusted EBITDA of Rs 588.6 crore in FY24. However, Flipkart’s top-line growth was significantly higher than that of Amazon Seller Services during the fiscal year ending March 2024. Amazon India’s revenue from operations grew 14.5% to Rs 25,406 crore in FY24 in contrast to Rs 22,198 crore booked in FY23, its standalone financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies show. The entity generated 82.4% of the revenue from marketplace services while the remaining came from the services rendered to related parties including platform services, marketing, and royalty revenues. The firm also generated a non-operating income worth Rs 186.8 crore, pushing the overall revenue to Rs 25,592.8 crore in FY24. Amazon Seller Services is engaged in marketplace and marketing support services. Its ultimate holding company is Amazon.com, Inc., which is based in the United States of America. Moving over to the spending, delivery charges were the largest cost element forming 25.8% of the total expenses. The cost went up 9.1% to Rs 7,487.9 crore in FY24 from Rs 6,863.1 crore in FY23. Sales promotion and legal cum professional costs were the other two significant elements which formed around 12% each and stood at Rs 3,586.1 crore and Rs 3,530.2 crore, respectively, in FY24. During the year, Amazon Seller Services spent Rs 2,771.2 crore on employee benefits which also include share-based payments (ESOP cost) of Rs 682.7 crore. Amazon India marketplace arm’s total expenses increased 6.5% to Rs 29,062.3 crore during FY24 from Rs 27,283.6 crore in FY23. In the end, the company managed to control its losses by 28.5% to Rs 3,469.5 crore in FY24 as compared to Rs 4,854.1 crore in FY23. Its operating cash flows also turned positive to Rs 724.1 crore during the last fiscal year against Rs -1,542.1 crore in FY23. It is worth noting that the company reported an EBITDA loss of Rs 94.1 crore in FY24, excluding the ESOP cost (non-cash expenses), the company turned profitable on the operational level with an adjusted EBITDA of Rs 588.6 crore during the year. The highlights of the improved bottom line can also be seen in the EBITDA margin which strengthened to -0.37%. On a unit level, Amazon’s Indian entity spent Rs 1.14 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY24. The entity’s rival, Flipkart's marketplace arm reported Rs 17,907 crore in revenue with 21% YoY growth while the company’s losses shrank over 40% to Rs 2,358 crore in FY24.

Income from coaching services accounted for 94.8% of the total operating revenue, which increased by 37.6% to Rs 384 crore in FY24 from Rs 279 crore in FY23. The remaining income is generated from the sale of study materials, including pen drives, books, test papers, and other resources. Drishti IAS operates seven institutes, including two in Delhi, three in Uttar Pradesh, and one each in Jaipur and Indore. Its Mukherjee Nagar Institute is the largest revenue contributor, accounting for 58% of the total coaching income. Employee benefits and faculty charges constituted 40% of its overall cost, increasing by 41% to Rs 117 crore in FY24 from Rs 83 crore in FY23. Drishti IAS's advertising spending also jumped 3.4X to Rs 51 crore in FY24. Drishti IAS's overall expenditure increased to Rs 289 crore in FY24 from Rs 197 crore in FY23. Higher spending on employee benefits and advertising resulted in a modest 3.4% increase in net profits, which rose to Rs 90 crore in FY24 from Rs 87 crore in FY23. The company's ROCE and EBITDA margin were recorded at 55.7% and 33.73%, respectively, while the expense-to-revenue ratio stood at Re 0.71. As of March 2024, the company's total current assets were valued at Rs 88 crore, with cash and bank balances of Rs 54 crore.

For the omnichannel retailer, the cost of procurement of materials accounted for 66% of the overall expenditure which increased 17% year-on-year to Rs 1,451 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 1,239 crore in Q3 FY24. FirstCry’s employee benefits stood at Rs 177 crore in Q3 FY25 which includes Rs 28 crore as ESOP cost. The marketing, legal, rent, and technology were other overheads that pushed the overall expenditure to Rs 2,210 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 1,978 crore in Q3 FY24. The decent scale and controlled expenditure helped FirstCry to reduce its losses by 70% to Rs 15 crore in the last quarter. Notably, the company reported a positive EBITDA of Rs 152 crore. As of the last trading session, FirstCry’s share price stood at Rs 419 per share, with a total market capitalization of Rs 21,753.8 crore (approximately $2.5 billion).

The issued debentures will carry a nominal interest rate of 0.001% and will eventually be converted into equity shares at a later stage. The company plans to utilize the funds to cover operational expenses, expand, enhance brand visibility, meet working capital needs, and support other business activities as approved by the board, the filing added. According to Entrackr’s estimates, the latest investment comes in as a flat round, valuing the company at $470 million — a slight uptick from its Series A valuation of $460 million. For the uninitiated, Bose is the only external investor in Noise. Noise sells smartwatches, wireless earphones, and speakers through e-commerce platforms and its own website. The company also holds a major share of the smartwatch market. The fresh investment from Bose follows a major product milestone: Noise’s launch of an audio device powered by “Sound by Bose.” Noise reported a revenue of Rs 1,431 crore with EBITDA profitability for the fiscal year ending March 2024. Decathlon India operates on a direct-to-consumer model, managing the design, manufacturing, and sale of its sports gear through large retail stores and an e-commerce platform. The company currently operates 90 stores across India. The sale of sports products was the sole source of revenue for Decathlon India. It also added Rs 58 crore from interest on investments and other non-operating income which tallied its overall to Rs 4,066 crore in FY24. The cost of procurement was the latest cost center forming 64.4% of the overall expenditure. This cost was reduced by 4.3% to Rs 2,448 crore in FY24, compared to Rs 2,559 crore in FY23. Decathlon India spent Rs 327 crore on employee benefits. Its controlled spending on power, rent, repairs, fuel, advertising, information technology, freight, franchisee fees, and legal/professional expenses led to an overall cost reduction of 4.5% to Rs 3,797 crore in FY24 from Rs 3,975 crore in FY23. Despite modest revenue growth, Decathlon India’s cost-control measures enabled it to post a net profit of Rs 197 crore in FY24, a sharp recovery from a Rs 18.6 crore loss in FY23. On a unit level, the company spent Re 0.95 to earn a rupee, with improved ROCE at 17.79% and EBITDA at 14.49%. By the end of the last fiscal year (FY24), its total current assets stood at Rs 1,247 crore, including Rs 325 crore in cash and bank balances. Last year, Decathlon India CEO Sankar Chatterjee mentioned that the company plans to double its revenue to Rs 8,000 crore within the next 3 to 5 years.
