New guidelines on India's laptop import policy still under deliberation: Piyush Goyal

The Indian government is still deliberating new guidelines for the import of laptops, according to Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is handling the matter. Previously, the government extended the approval system for the import of IT hardware products, including laptops and tablets, until December 31. The imports, mainly from China, amounted to $8.4 billion in 2023-24. Goyal also praised SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son's announcement to increase investments in India, expressing confidence in India's growing investment potential. Despite challenges, Goyal expects India's goods and services exports to surpass $800 billion in the current financial year.
