Snippets Neuroscience startup BrainSight AI raises $5 Mn Deep-tech neuroscience startup BrainSight AI has raised $5 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by IAN Alpha Fund, along with participation from IvyCap Ventures, Silver Needle, and its existing investors. The fresh funds will be utilized to expand its presence in India, increasing reach in Tier I and Tier II cities, making a foray into Africa, Southeast Asia, the US, and allied markets, and enhancing R&D capabilities, BrainSight said in a press release. Co-founded in 2019 by Laina Emmanuel and Rimjhim Agrawal, BrainSight AI aims to enable greater precision in the diagnosis and treatment planning of neuro-oncological and neuropsychiatric disorders. The platform combines artificial intelligence and neuroscience to enable precision in neurological and psychiatric investigations for accelerated patient outcomes. According to BrainSight, its platform products include Voxelbox, which provides clinicians with access to an fMRI processing engine and machine-learning models; and Snowdrop, a patient care app that enables compliance with treatment schedules and builds patient profiles. Currently, BrainSight AI asserts that it collaborates with over 40 leading hospitals across India, particularly in neurosurgery and radiology departments, focusing on brain tumor cases. The company is now expanding its solutions to neurological and psychiatric disorders, paving the way for a more holistic approach to brain care. BrainSight AI helps to understand how the physiology of the brain correlates to its functions by mapping macro-scale neural connections in the brain to enable precise diagnosis and prognosis of neuro-oncological and neuropsychiatric disorders.

CapGrid Solutions raises $5 Mn led by Anicut Capital B2B manufacturing startup CapGrid Solutions has raised $5 million (around Rs 45 crore) in a funding round led by Anicut Growth Fund. The round also saw participation from existing investors Nexus Venture Partners and Axilor Ventures. Earlier in January 2023, CapGrid had raised $7 million led by Nexus Venture Partners. The round closed at a valuation of Rs 305 crore after the investment, according to an ET report. The proceeds will be used for global expansion and investments in technology to improve supply chain and operational efficiencies. Founded in 2020 by Tiwari and Himanshu Singh Raghuvanshi, CapGrid helps car part makers and suppliers by making it easier to find and buy the materials they need. It helps OEMs procure precision parts and components from suppliers that it has tied up with. CapGrid currently operates around 11 fulfilment centres and has 50 strategic supply manufacturing partners. The Gurugram-based startup claims to have recorded a revenue of around Rs 99 crore in the last fiscal year and expects to reach Rs 220 crore in FY25.

Chopra is assembling a team to prepare a proposal for India’s AI mission and is seeking technical experts to join, either full-time or part-time. However, he has not yet disclosed the name of his next venture. He believes that solving problems in complex domains is crucial for economic growth and that enhancing AI models capable of highly intelligent reasoning could help address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as poverty, cancer, and fundamental questions about the universe and human consciousness. Unlike large Western AI labs with massive budgets for GPUs, Chopra’s project will prioritize efficiency. The team will explore innovative methods such as reinforcement learning, distillation, pruning, and neuroscience-based approaches to improve AI performance using limited computational resources. This will mark Chopra’s third startup venture, following Wingify (VWO) and Nintee. While Wingify was acquired by Everstone, Nintee was shut down in April last year. The company, backed by Peak XV, Kunal Shah, and others, returned most of the capital it had raised from investors.

It will also be investing in scaling its innovative dual communications network interface modules for smart metering currently being deployed across various states in India. Founded by Anand Singh, Probus develops integrated hardware and software solutions for utility providers and helps digitize their distribution grid and have a clear visibility of their network through Probus integrated end-to-end IoT platform. Probus claims to have built an order pipeline of Rs 400 crore growing 10X in revenues while growing 3X year-on-year. The company has filed for 4 patents, tripled the team size, and opened an Innovation Center in Noida along with project offices in Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
