Neuralink, the brain-machine interface company founded by Elon Musk, has successfully implanted its device into a patient named Alex, who has regained control over digital devices and is even able to play video games. The second human trial showed significant improvements over the first, addressing complications like electrode retraction. The device, known as Link, currently allows patients to control on-screen cursors and digital devices, but future upgrades could include interpreting multiple simultaneous movement intentions and recognizing handwriting. Neuralink aims to restore independence to individuals with severe movement limitations and potentially enhance the abilities of healthy individuals in the future.
