MS Dhoni-backed Garuda Aerospace raises Rs 100 Cr in Series B round Drone technology startup Garuda Aerospace has raised Rs 100 crore ($11.6 million) in its Series B funding round led by Venture Catalysts (VCAT) at a post-money valuation of $250 million. Previously, the firm had raised $22 million in its Series A round led by Venture Capital firm SphitiCap in February 2023. The fresh proceeds will be used to scale up drone manufacturing, enhance production capabilities, and complete an R&D and testing center focused on defense drone technology. Founded in 2015 by Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Garuda has grown to a team of over 200 members and manufactures 30 drone types while offering 50 services. Garuda currently holds over 20 patents and operates a fleet of over 400 drones with 500 trained pilots across 84 cities. It serves clients including government agencies and major corporations such as TATA, Reliance, and Adani. It has also partnered with global companies like Lockheed Martin and Elbit Systems. As per TheKredible, Garuda Aerospace’s revenue from operations grew by 2.3X to Rs 110 crore in FY24 from Rs 47 crore in FY23. Its net profit reached Rs 16 crore in FY24, a 2.7X increase from Rs 6 crore in the previous year. Garuda competes with the likes of ideaForge, Aarav Unmanned Systems, Throttle Aerospace Systems, General Aeronautics, and Omnipresent Robot Tech in the drone manufacturing and drone-as-a-service (DaaS) segment across defense, agriculture, and industrial applications.

Nabhdrishti Aerospace raises $3 Mn led by Accel Aerospace startup Nabhdrishti Aerospace has raised $3 million (around Rs 25 crore) in a funding round led by Accel, along with participation from IIMA Ventures and its existing investors. The proceeds will be used to boost the development and testing of its engine prototypes, as well as talent acquisition, Nabhdrishti Aerospace said in a press release. Co-founded in 2023 by Chouhan, Arjun Srivatsa, and Antanu Sadhu, Nabhdrishti Aerospace is building small gas turbines that will cater to hybrid urban air mobility, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and decentralized power generation appliances. The company claims its engine serves a dual purpose — propulsion and power. It can cater to hospitals, heavy vehicles, manufacturing segments, as well as light aircraft, helicopters, and hybrid electric flights. According to the Bengaluru-based company, it is developing cutting-edge technologies designed to run on sustainable fuels, including green hydrogen, to power everything from UAVs to next-generation air mobility platforms. Nabhdrishti Aerospace focuses on building sustainable, indigenous propulsion systems to reduce India’s reliance on imported aerospace technology. It aims to generate early revenue while expanding its team, with new hires expected across engineering, production, and customer support by the end of the year. Over the next few years, the company plans to steadily scale its workforce to support its growing product portfolio and customer base. Other notable startups in this space include Garuda Aerospace, Bellatrix Aerospace, and Agnikul.

Drone startup Aereo raises $15 Mn in Series B

Commercial drone solutions startup Aereo has secured $15 million in a Series B funding round led by 360 ONE Asset. The round also witnessed participation from its existing investors StartupXseed Ventures and Navam Capital. The company had previously raised $6.44 million at post money valuation of $25.5 million from GrowX Ventures, Startupxseed Ventures, Anicut Capital and others. The fresh funds will be used to expand its aerial intelligence solutions for capital asset management, Aereo said in a press release. Co-founded in 2013 by Vipul Singh and Suhas Banshiwala, Aereo serves in the B2B space in the high tech, aerospace, maritime and defense tech market segments. According to Aereo, it has been a partner for Coal India Limited’s Digicoal initiative, and provides critical business intelligence for some of the world’s largest coal mines for improving productivity. It has also been collaborating with Tata Steel since 2019, aiding the digitalisation of over 27 critical mines and stockyards. The Bengaluru-based company claims that it has mapped over 45,000 villages under the SVAMITVA scheme and covered more than 50,000 sq. km of land area for the Digital India Land Record Modernization Program (DILRMP). The other notable players in this space are Skylark Drones, IdeaForge, Garuda Aerospace, DroneAcharya Aerial, Dhaksha Unmanned Systems and others.
