Meta’s Zuckerberg not liable in lawsuits over social media harm to children

A federal judge has determined that Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms, is not personally liable in 25 lawsuits that accuse his company of addicting children to social media. The judge rejected claims that Zuckerberg directed Meta's efforts to conceal the mental health risks of using Facebook and Instagram from children. The plaintiffs argued that Zuckerberg ignored internal warnings and downplayed the risks, but the judge found a lack of specifics in their claims. This decision does not affect the related claims against Meta itself. Numerous lawsuits have been filed against Meta, Google, TikTok, and Snapchat, alleging social media addiction. State attorneys general are also pursuing similar cases.
