Meta’s new AI image generator was trained on 1.1 billion Instagram and Facebook photos

Meta has released a new AI image generator called "Imagine with Meta AI," built on its Emu image synthesis model. It was trained on 1.1 billion publicly visible Facebook and Instagram images and can generate unique images based on written prompts. Previously, this technology was only available within messaging and social networking apps. The new website requires a Meta account and generates four 1280x1280 pixel images that can be saved in JPEG format. Meta claims to only use publicly available photos for training, so setting photos to private should prevent inclusion in future AI models.
