Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is reportedly planning to develop its own artificial intelligence (AI) hardware. Job advertisements seeking ASIC engineers with expertise in architecture, design, and testing suggest Meta's intentions to design its own AI chips. The move is likely aimed at reducing its dependence on Nvidia GPUs and ensuring a steady supply of hardware in the increasingly in-demand AI market. Meta's ambitions in AI also extend to artificial general intelligence, further supporting the need for specialized silicon. Microsoft is rumored to be taking a similar step to reduce its reliance on Nvidia.
