Marine robotics deep-tech startup EyeROV has raised INR 10 Crore (about $1.2 million) in a pre-Series A round led by Unicorn India Ventures. The company had previously raised $788K from GAIL and others. The funds will be used to strengthen its geographical expansion into international markets and develop advanced marine robotics products and solutions, EyeROV said in a press-release. Co-founded in 2016 by Johns T Mathai and Kannappa Palaniappan P, EyeROV is a deep-tech company which is specialized in marine robotics and AI. The Company aims to empower industries such as energy, maritime, defense, and infrastructure through its cutting-edge unmanned technologies. According to the Kochi-based company, it has introduced commercial underwater drones/ROVs and launched an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) that provides solutions in both India and the MENA region. EyeROV also manufactures solutions for infrastructure inspections and collaborating with defense R&D labs and forces through the Innovations for Defence Excellence (IDEX) initiative to develop maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions. EyeROV claims that it serves prominent clients including Tata, Adani, BPCL, DRDO, and the Indian Coast Guard, having completed over 100 underwater inspections. It intends to triple its revenue by the end of the financial year by boosting sales in both domestic and international markets.

Deeptech startup Planys Technologies has raised $4 million in its ongoing pre-Series A round. The fresh investment tranche has come after a gap of more than two years for the Chennai-based firm. The board at Planys Technologies has passed a board resolution to issue 8,471 CCPS at an issue price of Rs 41,600 each to raise Rs 35.23 crore, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies shows. Himalaya Finance, Golden Birch Investments, Krishna Defence, Impact India Investments, SiriusOne Capital, and several individuals including Ashish Ramesh Kacholia, Shalini Chhabra, and Puneet Gupta participated during the new investment tranche. The company also approved its MSOP pool of 1,445 equity shares amounting to Rs 6 crore (as per the valuation report) in February, a separate filing shows. Established in 2015 by Tanuj Jhunjhunwala and Rakesh Sirikonda, Planys does underwater inspection by offering secure and adaptable solutions through marine robotics and analytics systems. The company has been working on over 350 projects with its 10 products across 5 countries. It also has more than 30 patents under its belt. Planys Technologies has raised around $8 million to date including a $1.6 million round led by Keiretsu Forum, LetsVenture in November 2021. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredibe, the company has been valued at around Rs 135 crore (post-money) in the new tranche. Unlike other startups, Planys hasnโ€™t been growing at a rapid clip and this could be evident from its flat scale which grew to Rs 8.63 crore in FY23 as compared to Rs 7.41 crore in FY22. Moreover, the firmโ€™s losses also spiked 3.2X to Rs 3.51 crore in the same period.

Agritech robotics firm Niqo Robotics (formerly TartanSense) has raised Rs 74.7 crore or $9 million in a new round led by Brida Innovation Ventures. The fresh funding comes after a hiatus of three years for the Bengaluru-based company. The board of Niqo Robotics has passed a special resolution to issue 8,577 preference shares at a price of Rs 87,090 each to raise Rs 74.7 crore, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies shows. Bidra Innovation Ventures pumped in Rs 41.5 crore while exiting investor Omnivore Partners also subscribed to the round with Rs 33.2 crore. As per startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the company has been valued at around Rs 290 crore or $35 million (post-money) Following the fresh proceeds, Omnivore Partners emerged as the largest external stakeholder with 25.7% followed by Brida Innovation and Blume Ventures which commanded 18% and 10.7%, respectively. Founded in 2015 by Jaisimha Rao, Niqo Robotics specializes in crafting compact agricultural robots empowered with AI-driven computer vision technology which claims to reduce costs and increase profitability. The company announced its rebranding to Niqo Robotics in March last year. Niqo Robotics has raised $16 million to date including its $5 million in Series A round from FMC, Omnivore, and Blume Ventures in August 2021. The firm also scored a $2 million Seed round in 2019. While the company would disclose its FY24 numbers later this year, the nine-year-old firmโ€™s Indian entity largely remained in pre-revenue stage with a revenue of only Rs 1.3 crore during FY23. At the same time, its losses spiked twofolds to Rs 9.8 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2023.
