The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is expected to issue a Letter of Intent (LoI) to Starlink soon. Once approved by telecom secretary Neeraj Mittal and communications secretary Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Satellite Communications Wing (SCW) will also grant approval. Starlink had applied for a GMPCS license in India in November 2022.
