The emergence of the GoldPickaxe Trojan, originally an Android banking Trojan known as GoldDigger, has raised concerns for iPhone users. The malware, with advanced features, aims to drain bank accounts by harvesting sensitive data, including facial recognition information and intercepted text messages. The obtained biometric data is used to create AI deepfakes, enabling cybercriminals to impersonate victims effectively. While currently targeting victims in Vietnam and Thailand, there is potential for expansion to English-speaking countries. The Trojan exploits a vulnerability in the TestFlight platform to infiltrate iOS devices, and users are advised to exercise caution and implement security measures.
