Intel and others commit to building open generative AI tools for the enterprise

The Linux Foundation has launched the Open Platform for Enterprise AI (OPEA) project in collaboration with organizations such as Cloudera and Intel. OPEA aims to develop open, multi-provider, and modular generative AI systems. The project will focus on creating a composable framework that supports AI toolchains, compilers, and heterogeneous pipelines for retrieval-augmented generation. The evaluation of generative AI systems will also be a key aspect of OPEA's work, with a rubric in place to grade systems based on performance, features, trustworthiness, and enterprise readiness. OPEA members include Cloudera, Intel, IBM-owned Red Hat, Hugging Face, Domino Data Lab, MariaDB, and VMWare.
