Insurance giant Fidelity hit by data breach — thousands of customers may have had data stolen

Tens of thousands of Fidelity Investments Life Insurance customers had their private data stolen in a supply chain attack that occurred in November 2023. The breach, which targeted a US subsidiary of Infosys, resulted in the theft of individuals' names, Social Security numbers, bank account details, and more. LockBit, a major ransomware operation, claimed responsibility for the breach. This incident highlights the risks posed by supply chain attacks and the potential for cybercriminals to exploit stolen data for various scams. In a separate incident, Fidelity National Financial also suffered a data breach in January 2024, compromising data on over a million customers.
